I wanted to give it a 4.5 out of 5 stars but Amazon doesn't make this possible. There are some improvements that could or should be made: 1. The compass could be protected better on the bottom of the case. Consider building it into the case underneath the signal mirror so it can be better protected. 2. It's not easy to get the compass out, compared to the knife or the ignitor. 3. It would be better if it were a foil bag and not just a sheet of aluminum foil, for this price I was expecting a little bit more inside of the case. 4. It needs some bandaids and maybe an alcohol wipe. 5. Water purification tablets. 6. Add a credit card sized Fresnel lens I really bought this because I like how the signal mirror is easily accessible - that's a smart place to put it. I also like that it's not going to rust on me and it's small enough to stick in my pocket. This is a decent kit - a bit too expensive for most people but if you make the changes I suggest and drop the price down a bit then I would feel good about recommending it to more people.

First of all, I have bought a few of these to give as gifts over the years to people who are not necessarily preparation-minded. This is a good set of tools, with a few additions, to get someone through a sticky situation. It is not an all-in-one survival kit, or at least I would not consider it an all-in-one survival kit. It is a good base. It's compact, the tools all lock in nicely so you don't lose them, but their definitely needs to be additions to beef it up a little bit. Before I gave them as gifts, I added: a thin clear bag for water collection, and four aqua tabs, and I switched out the nylon cording for very thin Kevlar cord. This allowed for just enough room to add a few matchsticks with a striker pad and one alcohol prep pad + two bandaids. I would highly recommend that before you find yourself in a situation where you need to use this, you get familiar with how to use these tools. Take a tinder fluff it up, and grab some bits twigs etc of wood and try lighting a fire with that spark tool. Familiarize yourself with the signaling mirror. Watch a video on how to use a compass. The tools are useless if you don't know how to use them. No off the shelf kit is going to be perfect, so will usually require some kind of additions or changes. This is an overall very good kit, although slightly pricey compared to when I purchased.

The survival kit is great. I first checked out the knife. It was super sharp. I then checked out the light. It was a bit dim, but still satisfied. You could use the light for reading or seeing where you’re cutting. The compass is good. It’s sticking out a little out of the container so it might burst or scratch. Showed correct readings but you have to be at the right elevation, you can’t tilt it or else it will be stuck. The fire starter is good. I sparked it once at it was all good. The signal mirror at the top is good. I added some bandaids inside and an alcohol wipe just in case .

This is by no means the best of the best- it has some good points for one the box itself is fairly well made and actually has a bit of weight to it. It really isn't much bigger than a bar of bath soap, the gear inside it isn't likely to save your life in anything other than a rather casual sort of emergency. So don't count on it to pull you through a zombie outbreak or anything. Still the tools are handy to have in your bug out bag. The knife is not the worst thing to have- its purpose might be to cut some small line or maybe to score some wood- any real cutting you need to do will cause the handle to fail or the blade to twist and possibly cut yourself. Just don't try to wrench the thing, its not made for that. There is a length of nylon rope inside, cotton for helping to start a fire and even a small bit of foil. All good to have, just not the best. The mirror is good. Its got a hole in the center with a small guide showing you how to use it for signaling. The compass.. Oh where to I start.. Its a little liquid filled button style compass with an extended piece of plastic attached so it fits the sturdy box. It will ROUGHLY point you in a direction but by my limited testing it (and all other button style compasses) will lead you NE or NW when you really want North. That may not be an issue if you want to move in short distances but if you have visions of mapping out your course to safety with it then don't try it. Buy a good compass and carry it with you. So to wrap this up, I like the kit. I don't love it. It doesn't have enough in it to justify the weight, but it is better than nothing. Shipping of the item was fast. No complaints on the purchasing aspect

Petit kit de survie assez bien dessiné et assez solide, pratique si un jour mon avion se crache et que je sois le seul survivant. Le couteau avec la lampe est très pratique dans l'emplacement prévu pour mais malheureusement la boîte est bien trop petite quand même du fait qu'on ne peut pas ajouter d'autres articles. C'est bien dommage pour le prix.

Absolutely perfect, so compact and light it can fit anywhere, there was some more room i put my waterproof matches in it as well. Great for the hiker and or camper as it fixed the generator already, removed a nail and made my dog go nuts!

El kit viene en una carcasa de plastico duro gris con detalles en naranja chillon para poder indentificarlo con poca luz. La tapa del compartimento interior dispone de junta torica para garantizar su sellado e estanqueidad. En el exterior e integrado a la carcasa encontraremos: - Brujula - Pedernal - Navaja con bloqueo de filo, luz led, silbato de emergencia. - Espejo de señales (en el otro lado del kit) con instrucciones sobre su uso. En el interior encontramos: - Pequeño folleto sobre tecnicas de supervivencia (en ingles) - Pequeño rollo de alambre - En una bolsa zip 4 algodones tratados para llesca - Hoja de papel de aluminio - En bolsa zip, utiles de pesca y 3 imperdibles. Tarda en llegar eso si pero merece la pena.

No se arrepentirán de adquirir este producto, es compacto y aprovecha cada espacio para incluir una herramienta. Todas las herramientas son de calidad y cumplen con su función.
