Great surge protector and battery backup. I have four of them. Buy with confidence.
Great surge protector and battery backup that gives you time and allows your sensitive electronics to be powered down gracefully by you when you lose power or allows them to continue running while you swap over to generator power without having to restart everything. I have four of them (two for two different computers in two different rooms, one for our 84-inch TV and whole house router, and one for our 3D printer so it won't mess up on a long printing job when our power company fails to provide consistent power). No complaints or issues. You can even replace the internal battery while keeping the same unit to save yourself some money when the rechargeable battery starts nearing the end of its useful life. Buy with confidence.

Happy to find out they still make this model!!!(BE650G1)
I would have saved myself a lot of time and hassle if I had known this UPS was still available. Family got 3 new computers for Christmas and since we live in hurricane alley(more on that later) I decided to get ups units for all of them. I originally bought 2 of the apc 600's on a black friday sale (not Amazon) but returned them in less than 30 min when I started reading the reviews and noticed it was light as a feather. It was advertised as having a usb port well yes technically that was true but it did not connect to anything. So in other words this ups had no way of shutting down the computer like a normal UPS has. The other biggie was the thing had a tiny battery and it was not replaceable. Why they did that is beyond me but between that and the faux usb port it was time to return them both. Note Amazon sells the same 600 here but the pictures show a real usb port and I have read they make that model both ways so that one might be ok. After that I ordered 2 similar cyber power units but canceled them after I read they too were disposable units because you could not replace the battery in them. I never could find out what battery they used and that was the tip off. At least they had real USB ports but I wanted to keep looking. I found a triplite 750 that had very good reviews but then one of the reviewers reported they don't work with Mac's and 2 of our new computers are those new Mini Mac M1's so I had to pass on that one. Then bingo I found an old friend called the BE650G1 or as some call it, the ES650. I still have the original model from 2007 and it still works like a charm. I also have it's baby brother the 325 and it also works just like new. During the fall , I lost track of how many Hurricanes we went through. But in 2 of them both these units worked their hearts keeping my servers and tv going. Around 4am the hurricane hit and the power was switching back and forth like mad. This went on till about 645am when we lost power for good. But this allowed me to watch the news and stay online till that time. So after finding out this unit was still available I ordered 3 of them and sure glad I did. No weird-tiny and hard to find batteries like some of the newer units. When UPS arrived today with my new 650's, they drove up my very steep driveway to put them in my garage because they are so heavy, The shipping box even had a Heavy label on the side. You can get the battery for the 650 from your local electrical supply company for about half the price that you pay at one of those national battery chain stores. That another reason why I would recommend this oldie but goodie model It also works with Windows, Linux and Macs with no issues and I hope APC will continue making this model for years to come!

Good investment...
Good surge protector and battery backup... One connector of battery must be plugged in by customer before use, and it was tough getting it to slide on... But, good product otherwise.

Seems good
As long as you plug it in and put the router, modem, and hub in the right sockets it will work fine. I connected it to a electrical circuit that shows when there’s a power failure in the home. It does have three settings for alarm volume. The lowest setting is fine if you’re not home along with the Yolink hub it should send a notice to you that the power has failed in your house. This is exceptionally good when you are away on vacation and you don’t have a generator for backup. We use a backup water sump pump along with a regular water sump pump. If the electricity is out for the regular sump pump, the water sump pump will continue to work as long as the temperatures in the home are above 32°. I think I need to add a active bring monitoring system somewhere in the house to hear when the alarm goes off so generally the system works if you think about it and what your needs are.

It works as intended
This was a replacement for the exact same model that died after thirteen years and a couple of battery replacements. It serves my purpose perfectly

Shows a yellow light instead of green when power is switched on.
Bigger and heavier than expected. Very strong battery smell. Not compact. Didn’t like that out of 8 outlets only 4 are battery protected. Also no usb port. The Black Battery cable is very hard to connect and I have had three other APC models before and never had this issue. Directions are needed on what to do when the light is yellow instead of green after turning the power button on because the battery is suppose to come fully charged upon arrival. Amazon’s Rufus described the yellow light as “On the APC Back-UPS 650VA, a yellow/amber light typically indicates one of these conditions: Battery needs replacement - Most common cause when the unit is aging Self-test failure - The UPS detected an internal problem during its automatic test Low battery charge - If it's been running on battery power or recently lost power Based on customer experiences, if you're getting a yellow light along with beeping, the battery likely needs replacement (APC replacement battery Model RBC17). If it's a new unit, try letting it charge for 8-24 hours plugged into the wall.” Charging for 24 hrs does not change the light from yellow to green. Reconnecting the black battery cable doesn’t change the yellow light to green. Expected better when the price tag is 100$. I also didn’t like having only one option for return-ups drop off with label and box. What happened to ups pickup? Will be returning.
