Nostalgia from Super Nintendo's Version
The game I remember! I had this game when I was a child on Super Nintendo - while this is NOT the same version as the Super Nintendo version, there are a lot of similar aspects to it. Some of the boards might even host the same characters but the gameplay is definitely different. I love this game and always have.Yoshi takes baby Mario on an adventure. You have to make eggs hit clouds to restore your health if Mario falls off from hitting a bad guy. Your objective is to collect 5/5 flowers, 30/30 stars, and 20/20 red coins in each board to receive a 100% score.I cannot tell you how many worlds there are total but I know there are 10 levels per world and I believe there has to be over 6-8 worlds total so a total of 60-80 boards/levels to play and perfect. Each board is replayable so you can play it over and over until you receive all the coins, flowers, and stars.Like most Mario games, these games are challenging whether its the first time you play it or the 300th time you played it. That is what I love about these games. It doesn't matter how long you have it, it's still challenging to play no matter when you go back to it.Gameplay takes a long time. I would say the first level, first board took me 3-4 minutes to complete and that was the easiest one. I played for about 45 minutes and only got to level 1-5. I'm not the best gamer in the world, but this wasn't my first rodeo either so that tells you how long it takes to complete the game.I would recommend this game for children over 8. My seven year old could play it but didn't have the patience to read all the little tip boxes to find out what to do. Then again, he plays COD and Minecraft no problem. This just wasn't of any interest to him. My 12-year-old played it with no issue. This was all about nostalgia to me. I bought it because I owned the Super Nintendo version and this did not disappoint! If you're a Mario lover because you love the challenge no matter how many times you play it, check this game out too! It's slightly different gameplay will give you something new and exciting.

Stupendous Fun Factor Fun!!!
Wow! They did it again! Nintendo has made the funnest game I've ever played on the GBA SP, called Yoshi's Island (I never played the SNES version, but I hear it was a doozy!). And now they come out with the DS variety, with some touch and balance for good measure. I really love this game. The whole concept. The fact that you can never "die" the way you do in the Mario games. (Run into a baddie as small Mario, and you instantly die.)No, here you just lose your baby for a few seconds, and if you don't capture him/her soon enough, it's curtains!Nintendo has added lots of creativity to this new effort, including new monsters, new bosses, and new skill sets to get from one level to the next. I see lots of reviews saying its more of the same. I guess so. But isn't that the story with most sequels? Even movies! So, why not bring back the most fun and exciting parts of the game that we all remember was so much fun. And don't we have a totally new "audience" of gamers. Gamers start young, my son is only 5. While he did play the original (when he was around 3) on the GBA SP (well original if you were born 10+ years after the life of the SNES), there are probably literally 1000's of new fresh gamers this game will appeal to.As Yoshi's Island is my absolute favorite game of all time, I was a "no-brainer" as a potential customer of this one. Well, it was a "no-brainer." I happen to have some brains, as I love this game!I would recommend any DS owner, or gift giver to pick this one up. I can't quite give it 5 stars (some of the gameplay and control are just a tad too frustrating) but the fun factor is way up there at 5 stars.Great Game! Let's see more of this!MC White said: Great Game!

FINALLY!
After a decade since the last Yoshi game, Ninendo finally gives us original fans what we've been waiting for! I loved the original SNES game so much and still play it, and wasn't disappointed with this DS version. It's not a continuation of the original but a new adventure, with several different babies to choose from with different special abilities. Very fun, and very challenging! I'm sure I'll be playing it for a while.I was sad that it's a somewhat shorter game than the original, and I also was sad that while they kept some of the original music, there's not a whole lot of it (I really loved the SNES Yoshi's Island soundtrack). But the beautiful graphics are wonderful, really bring you into the game, and the action of the game is faster and smoother on the DS platform. Thanks Nintendo! I hope you bring us more Yoshi soon!
